A hysteroscopy allows for a clear view of the inside of the uterus by inserting a thin, tube-shaped camera system through the vaginal opening. The procedure can be used to both diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, such as correcting congenital uterine anomalies, removing polyps, opening up uterine adhesions, or retrieving an IUD that has a broken string. It is also a valuable tool for diagnostic checks before treatments for recurrent miscarriages or infertility.
